HerdHarbor policies
Privacy Policy
This policy explains how HerdHarbor collects, uses, stores, and protects information when you use the HerdHarbor website and livestock-management application.
Information you provide
- Account information, including your email address and password credentials handled by our authentication provider.
- Farm and operation profile information, such as an owner or operation name, contact details, and logo.
- Records you enter, including animal, pedigree, breeding, birth, health, task, production, budget, customer, sales, payment-record, and transfer information.
- Information you choose to send through support, feedback, tester-update, or account-deletion forms.
Information collected automatically
HerdHarbor may process basic technical information needed to provide and protect the service, such as browser type, device type, app version, page address, session information, error details, connection state, and synchronization timestamps. The app uses local browser storage and IndexedDB to support offline use, recovery snapshots, preferences, and unsynced records.
How information is used
- Authenticate accounts and provide the app.
- Store, synchronize, back up, restore, and display your records.
- Prevent data loss, resolve synchronization conflicts, secure the service, and diagnose failures.
- Respond to support, feedback, and deletion requests.
- Improve HerdHarbor and communicate material service information.
Service providers
HerdHarbor uses Supabase for account authentication and cloud data storage, GitHub Pages for public website and app delivery, and Formspree for forms submitted to HerdHarbor. These providers process information only as needed to provide their services and under their own privacy terms.
Payments and sensitive records
HerdHarbor records payments you enter for farm-management purposes, but it does not currently process credit cards or collect card numbers. Do not use HerdHarbor as an emergency, medical, veterinary, tax, or legally required record system.
Data sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information to service providers, when required by law, to protect rights and security, or as part of a business transfer. Animal transfer files are shared only when a user chooses to export and provide them.
Retention and deletion
Cloud information is retained while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, and improve the service. Recovery and backup copies may persist for a limited period. You can request deletion from HerdHarbor Settings or at herdharbor.com/delete-account. We aim to complete verified requests within 30 days unless retention is required by law, security, fraud prevention, dispute resolution, or enforcement needs. Copies exported to your device are controlled by you and must be deleted by you.
Your choices
You can update many records in the app, export a complete backup, clear records from a device, sign out, or request account deletion. Browser or operating-system controls can remove local app data, but doing so does not by itself delete your cloud account.
Children
HerdHarbor is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Security and international processing
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, but no system can guarantee absolute security. Information may be processed in the United States or other countries where our service providers operate.
Changes and contact
We may update this policy as HerdHarbor changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. Questions or privacy requests can be sent to hello@herdharbor.com.
